On March 23, 2006 Chair opened the Reading and Writing UNECO sub-based Central University of Venezuela, assigned to the area of \u200b\u200bLinguistics at the Graduate Studies Committee of the Faculty of Humanities and Education of the Universidad Central de Venezuela, coordinated by the PhD in Discourse Studies. General Coordination of the Chair is located at the University of Valle, School of Language Sciences, in Cali, Colombia. It has seven offices in Latin America: Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Five branches in Colombia, seven branches in Argentina, three branches in Chile, two branches in Mexico and two branches in Venezuela.
The objectives of the Chair are:
1. Promote and accelerate the exchange and appropriation of knowledge for the renovation and academic excellence in the field of reading and writing, and teaching the mother tongue.

5. Result in a change of national education policies and Latin American language teaching and developing reading and writing that enable better student academic performance in Latin America.
